WebDec 1, 2024 · I'm curious about opinions from long term EF 50/1.2 users about the durability of this model. 1.5 year ago I had to service a 24/1.4 (mkI version, going by lens code an earlier Gen Z ) and it was relatively costly because this model is long past service date with Canon replacement parts. hence my question about risks related to buying second hand … WebJun 23, 2012 · 24mm f4 you get in 17 55mm f2.8. Oh God. 24mm @ f/4 on the 17-55 isn't even close to being the same. The 17-55 is at its sharpest at f/8. Primes are sharper than zooms, and the 24 is sharpest at f/4. My nifty fifty is shareper than my 17-55 at the same settings. I do a lot of street photography and landscapes.

But I’m currently using the Zeiss 35mm 1.4 Distagon on a Sony A7III for 90% of my work. the asph is insane, i recently upgraded from a 1967 summilux. definitely by far one of my favorite lenses. the FE 35 f/1.4 Distagon was my favorite as well when I had my A7II.
